Handmade chocolates and fudge, old fashioned candy, delicious ice cream and gelato, sundaes and banana splits and ice cold hawaiian shave ice, not to mention an entire menu of coffee drinks, smoothies, and milkshakes. If you are looking for a treat in sonoma, this is the place to go! The store also boasts a big selection of youth and adult Sonoma tshirts and fun aprons, so you can also get something to remember your trip to the valley.
The call of gelato, ice cream, handmade chocolates brings the herd of people to "The Chocolate Cow". Locals and tourists alike, come to Stephen Ponds parlor to cool down or satisfy a chocolate urge. If the weather is hot, get to the end of the line. Banana Splits are the tummy, yummy treat.
The Chocolate Cow is the perfect stop for a sweet treat after a dinner at any one of the great restaurants in Sonoma’s town square. They have a whole wall devoted to typical “penny candy” that is sold by the pound, they also have homemade chocolates, truffles, fudge, and ice cream. I decided on a delicious pillow of caramel and marshmallow coated with milk chocolate. I ate it immediately, so I regret to say that I have no pictures of it. But, it was damn good!
Tucked into a courtyard off the plaza, the Chocolate Cow can be tricky to find the first time but is worth searching out. Small heads will swivel from the giant plaster cow's behind sticking out of the wall to the cases crammed with tempting fudge, chocolates, caramels, and other candies. The Hawaiian shaved ice will be a hit with the kids, but those craving real ice cream will be happy with the many unusual flavors of gelato, including coffee chip made with real coffee and caramel cow.
